To make your child feel comfortable during the lesson, it's worth getting everything ready in advance.
Lessons take place in Zoom or Google Meet via a permanent link. We send it by email before the first lesson. You can also join from the main page of your profile or from the Student journal, click Start lesson.
How to get ready for the introductory lesson
The introductory lesson lasts 45 minutes. During it the teacher gets to know your child, sees the level of their knowledge, their strengths and the topics worth working on.
⚙️ Technical preparation
- Make sure Zoom or Google Meet is installed on the computer or tablet.
- Check the headphones, microphone and camera.
- Get a notebook, a pen and the maths tools your child needs.
- Pick a quiet, well-lit spot. Clear the desk and make sure there is water nearby.
- Be ready 5 minutes before the lesson starts.
🧑🧑🧒 Getting your child ready
Tell your child in advance how the introductory lesson will go. First they'll meet the teacher and have a chat, then they'll solve a few problems together. During the lesson it's fine to make mistakes, ask questions and ask for another explanation, that's a normal part of learning.
- Ask your child what they expect from the lesson and share it with the teacher.
- Think about the topics that feel hard for now and tell the teacher about them.
- Talk about what your child would like to ask the teacher and suggest they ask it themselves.
Parents can stay nearby at the start of the lesson to say hello and meet the teacher together. After that it's best to leave the child alone with the teacher.
After the introductory lesson you'll get a detailed report on how your child worked during the lesson, which topics they handle confidently, what's worth working on, and a personal study plan with the recommended number of lessons per week. It helps set the direction for further learning.
💬 Chat with the teacher opens on the platform as soon as the introductory lesson is booked. So you can meet the teacher and sort out the details before the lesson starts.
How to get ready for a regular lesson
A regular lesson lasts 55 minutes. Before it starts:
- Check the lesson time in the Calendar the day before.
- Make sure the internet, sound and camera work.
- Get a notebook, a pen and the maths tools your child needs.
- Pick a quiet, well-lit spot. Clear the desk and make sure there is water nearby.
- Join 5 minutes before the start.
😌 Leave your child a few calm minutes before the lesson so they can rest and settle in. It will be easier for them to focus from the first minutes.
💬 If you need to check something before or after the lesson, message the teacher in Chat on the platform.
