We explain when a restriction kicks in, how you'll find out about it, and what to do once it's lifted so you can start taking on new students again.

In certain situations, the platform temporarily restricts a teacher's ability to take on new students. In this article, we cover all types of restrictions and the situations that trigger them.

How a restriction works

When a restriction is active:

  • Your profile availability switches to "Does not accept new students" and can't be edited.
  • Requests from new students for introductory lessons stop coming through.
  • Lessons with your regular students continue as usual.
💡 The restriction only applies to new students — it doesn't affect your existing schedule with regular students.

How you'll find out about a restriction

When a restriction is activated, we'll let you know in two ways:

  • An email explaining the reason and the date the restriction ends.
  • A banner on your profile dashboard as a reminder that a restriction is currently in place.

Reasons for a restriction

1. Cancelling introductory lessons

If a teacher cancels 2 or more intro lessons within the past 30 days, the system automatically restricts access to new students for 30 days from the date of the most recent cancellation.

Each additional cancellation extends the period: the 30 days start over from the date of the new cancellation.

⚠️ Cancellations for valid reasons don't count toward this limit. If you find yourself in such a situation, please reach out to support.

2. Automatic replacement (teacher didn't show up for a lesson)

If a teacher doesn't show up for an introductory lesson and the parents select that as the reason, the platform replaces the teacher with another one and restricts access to new students for 14 days from the moment of the replacement.

3. Manual block by a manager

In certain cases, a restriction is put in place by a platform manager. The manager decides how long it lasts: 14 days, 30 days, or with no time limit.

In these cases, you'll be informed personally about the reason for the block and the conditions for lifting it.

How to restore access once the restriction ends

When the restriction period is over, your ability to take on new students is restored automatically, but your status won't update on its own.

To start receiving introductory lesson requests from new students again, update your profile availability:

  1. Log in to your profile at pifagor.mathema.me.
  2. Go to My Account → Edit Account → Schedule.
  3. Under Availability for new students, choose one of the options:
    • Accepts new students from today — if you're ready to accept requests today.
    • Accepts new students from tomorrow — if you'd prefer to start the next day.

💡 You can also update your availability directly from your profile dashboard.

⚠️ Until you update your availability manually, new students won't be able to book an intro lesson with you — even after the restriction period has ended.
