To explain maths visually and work together with your student, use the Board. It's handy for drawing, plotting graphs and writing formulas, and you can bring your lesson preparation straight onto the canvas. After the lesson, a draft report is built from your work on the board.
▶️ How to open the board
- Log in to your account.
- Open the Calendar and pick the lesson you need.
- In Lesson details, click Board.
✅ That's it! The board opens and you can start working.
On the right of the board there are two panels, one with the properties of the selected object and one with your lesson preparations. If they're collapsed, expand them with the « arrows in the top right corner.
If you've made a preparation for this lesson, it's already waiting on the board. If there's no preparation, you can use the board as usual.
👩🏫 How to invite your student to the board
Your student can work alongside you, from their own device.
- Click Invite in the top panel. The link to the board is copied automatically.
- Send it to your student in Chat.
To work on the board, your student opens the link and logs in to the platform. At the top you'll see how many people are on the board right now.
💡 To show your student where to work, add a Work area. It's labelled "Your turn" automatically.
👀 What your student sees
Your student sees the same canvas as you and can draw on it too.
How to show the board when you share your screen
Turn on Presentation mode. To do that, click the screen icon with a chart in the top panel, to the right of the Invite button.
The panels on the right, the top panel and everything marked Teacher only will be hidden. The canvas and the tools stay on screen.
A Presenting bar appears at the top, so you'll always know it's on.
To go back to the usual view, click Exit or press Esc.
How to hide an answer or a hint
- Pick the Select tool on the panel on the left.
- Click the object you need on the canvas. A panel with its properties opens on the right.
- Turn on the Teacher only toggle.
That object won't show up in presentation mode or in the export, so you can prepare answers and hints in advance.
💡 In the same panel you can change the colour and thickness of a line, duplicate or delete an object, and recognise a handwritten formula.
✏️ How to write and draw
On the board you can write by hand, draw shapes, plot graphs and type formulas.
Start by choosing how the canvas looks. Open the Board paper menu in the top panel and click Plain, Squared or Dots.
If you're running out of room on the canvas, click + at the bottom of the board and a new page appears.
What tools are on the panel
The tools are on the panel on the left. Pick the one you need and its settings appear at the top.
Along with the pen, highlighter, eraser, shapes and text, the panel has tools for maths.
- Geometry tools. A ruler, a protractor and a compass that behave like the real thing. The quickest way to call them up is with the R, T and C keys.
- Geometry. Drawing points, segments, polygons and circles. Shapes label themselves, with side lengths and angles shown next to them. Drag a vertex and the values recalculate.
- Coordinate plane. Add a function and the board plots the curve. You adjust the parameters with sliders, so your student sees how the graph changes. Zeros and extrema are marked automatically.
How to add a formula
Pick the Formula tool and type the expression. The symbols are on the keyboard at the bottom, grouped from algebra to Greek letters.
📐 The keyboard settings have a notation toggle, so tg and ctg look familiar to your student.
You can also write a formula by hand.
- Pick the Select tool and select the strokes of one formula.
- On the panel on the right, click Recognise formula.
- Check the result and confirm the replacement.
It's formulas that get recognised, not handwritten words.
📋 How to bring your lesson preparation onto the board
The preparation you made for the lesson appears on that lesson's board automatically, in the Preparations panel on the right.
Click a question in the list and it appears on the canvas as a task card straight away.
To open a hint, show the answer or change the status, select the card with the Select tool. A panel with its settings opens on the right.
While the Show on card toggle is off, you're the only one who sees the answer.
Set the card status, such as Solved, Difficult or Skipped, during the lesson, because the draft report is built from it.
📝 How to finish the lesson
At the end of the lesson, click End lesson. The board is saved and the report form for that particular lesson opens.
Once the lesson is over, the board is read-only. The padlock icon 🔒 in the top panel is a reminder of that.
You'll find all your boards in the My boards section of your account.
The report has a From the lesson board block. It already holds the lesson topics and a draft of the Knowledge and Gaps blocks, which the AI assistant put together from your work on the canvas. Topics from your preparation are added automatically.
To move the draft into the report:
- Tick the blocks you want to add and click Transfer to report.
- To add the lesson topics, click Suggest topics and confirm the ones you need.
If you don't like the wording, click Try again for a new draft.
☝️ Only what you confirm goes into the report. Text you've written yourself stays as it is.
If there's anything on the board, a snapshot of the canvas goes into the report. Parents see it in a separate How the lesson went on the board block, along with a short summary of the lesson.
💡 How to try the board before a lesson
Open the practice board and take your time getting used to it. It's the same board, just not tied to a lesson.
Draw an angle with the protractor, plot a graph and turn a handwritten note into a formula. That way you won't be hunting for the right button during the lesson.
